The mission of The Deanery School of Music is to provide an inclusive home for high quality music instruction, performance and collaboration in the

Quad Cities community.

The Deanery seeks to enrich and enhance the cultural and social fabric of our community through music and education.

Calling All Jazz Lovers in The Quad Cities!

The Deanery School of Music is thrilled to be hosting "Jazz at The Deanery" in January!

Join us on Saturday, March 23, 3024, at 7:30 PM as Dr. Edgar Crockett, trumpet, and Corey Kendrick, piano, share some excellent LIVE Jazz at the Deanery! 

You don't want to miss these two stellar musicians in our glorious performing space!  We're so excited they will be laying down some tunes for us! You can learn more about them at the bottom of this email.

About Our Guest Jazz Musicians:

Edgar Crockett is a musician, composer and educator living in Northwestern Illinois. 

As a commercial trumpet player he has performed with Ray Charles, Roberta Flack, James Ingram, Peabo Bryson, Maureen McGovern, Shirley Jones, The Temptations, The Four Tops and many others.  

As a jazz trumpeter and director, he has performed with Jimmy Heath, David Sanchez, Wycliffe Gordon, Vincent Herring, Tom Harrell, J.J. Johnson, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Alex Acuna, Buddy Di Franco, Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Alex Sipiagin, Danillo Perez, Javon Jackson, Stefon Harris, Jim Snidero, John Clayton, Diego Urcola, Mark Levine, Jon Weber, Seamus Blake, Marquis Hill and many other jazz greats. 

His music is commercially released on Summit Records and Sea Breeze Jazz. His compositions are available from Ludwig Music and TUBA Press.  He holds a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Iowa, and  is a professor emeritus at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois.

He currently teaches music theory at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

Corey Kendrick is a pianist, composer, recording artist, and educator currently living in Davenport, IA. Kendrick is Director of Instrumental Music at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL.  Praised by Downbeat Magazine’s John Ephland as a “very accomplished, highly gifted jazz pianist” with “a patient, maturing voice,” Kendrick has a skillful touch that is both immediately recognizable and deeply expressive.  Kendrick released his debut album, Rootless, in June of 2016, which’s Travis Roger, Jr. called “a debut album that stands among the finest albums of the year.”  Rated 5 stars by Bebop Spoken Here’s Lance Liddle, Rootless quickly climbed the jazz radio charts, reaching #4, #5, and #35 on the CMJ, RMR, and JazzWeek charts respectively and wa
s featured on PRI’s syndicated program “Jazz After Hours.”
