We Need You

Did you play violin, viola, cello, or bass in the past — in high school, perhaps — before having to give it up?

Have you ever thought "wouldn't it fun to play again"?

Now's your chance.

The Hilltop Community Orchestra, sponsored by The Deanery School of Music in Davenport, wants you, and we'll help you get back into it gradually.

The Deanery School of Music and its Director, Gates Thomas, are organizing a community orchestra for amateur musicians in the Greater Quad-City Metro Area.  We are seeking violin, viola, cello, and double bass players, age 18 or older, who are willing to attend regular rehearsals.

Our first rehearsal was held on Tuesday evening, January 6, 2026 and attracted 25 string players.  We  are looking to build a complete string section before expanding the orchestra.

To receive the music ahead of time, please fill out this short questionnaire which tells us about your playing experience.  The information you provide will help us choose appropriate repertoire.  Alternatively, you may just show up to one of our rehearsals — but having advance notice helps us to prepare for you.
